Cannot Turn Off Snap To Object?

So, here's my problem...

Let say: I draw 2 squares and I want to draw a line to connect the upper
left corner of the first square to the second's. Sound simple, but cannot do
it...

When I start to draw a line, I move my cursor to the corner; but Word would
try to be smart and think I want to start me line at the center of the side
of the square. It got so annoying; any idea to fix this??

Click on Draw on the Drawing toolbar, click Grid, you will now see the Snap
options at the top of the dialog box.
