Cannot uninstall MS Office Standard

My initial issue is the VBA ActiveX control problem with excl which I still
have. I performed all the necessary functions to correct the error message
including reading the help link that provides background but no solution. I
thought I would uninstall MS office standard which I had just bought and
installed a few weeks ago and it had been working great.

When I go in to uninstall I get this error or if I try and change - - -
“setup cannot continue because a required file is either corrupted or not
available. Run setup again from the original source disc or download
locationâ€.
I get this same message when I put my original disc in and try to run
setup.exe. I have run a virus scan, went back to a restore point, no good.
Boot in safe mode then uninstall??? Are there other things to look for.
Thanks

My config . . .
-07 toshiba satellite A135,
-vista home premium,
-pentium dual-core 2g RAM,
-Intel, 2g processer,
-160g hard drive 41% in use,
-SP1 updated (11-11-08)

Shane,

I apologize I did not state that I have office standard 2007 on a Vista
system. I did not have beta installed. The previous program was a copy of
the pre-installed MSO home and student that came on my laptop when purchased
recently which, is now expired, why the upgrade. These options detailed in
the first article for my issue is not applicable?

The 290301 links to 928218. This is what I may be faced to do, manualy
uninstall office though not stated earlier the issue seems to be with excel.
I don't have a good feling about doing that tediously complicated string of
work. Do you think this is the only solution? Thanks
