Hi Iplant,
In general, installing Office to the new hard drive (if that's your Windows drive) will be easier/cleaner to deal with as the
registry entries will work

(Copying just files without the matching registry entries can be what you're running into at this
point and you may need to use the MS Windows Installer Cleanup utility to break the link to the old registry entries then restart
and install Office to the same (or different) folders.
Office activation is tied to hardware configuration and the MS installer is looking at drive references, so things can get a bit odd
if what used to be C:\> is now D:\>

I am not sure about the Office, but the XP professional did copy over and my pc now boots from the new h/d; the OS is working as
well as it usually does...faster though with the bigger h/d and ram. >>
