Anybody have a way to update Excel spreadsheets through a link like we did
before Microsoft took away the function?

From the A2007 help file:
Any changes you make to the source cells in Excel appear in the linked
table. However, you cannot edit the contents of the corresponding
table in Access. If you want to add, edit, or delete data, you must
make the changes in the source file.

Tom,
I understand what you are saying but, prior to this change you could link an
Excel sheet into Access. Run an update query and update data within the Excel
sheet. Now when you attempt to do this you get the error message: Cannot
update <field name>; field not updatable. (Error 3113).

Importing rather than linking is not always practical or possible. I hate
to return to the world of vertical lookups!

That's pretty sad. So I guess there is no solution from Microsoft.

I can't review the google link from here because of our firewall, I'll check
it at home. Does the Guatemalan inventor, Carlos Amado, offer any aftermarket
software I can buy to perform this Access to Excel magic? Or his he just
sitting back enjoying the nine million bucks Gates sent to him? I never did
get my check after forwarding all those emails back in 97! lol
