Cannot update Office 2007

I am hoping someone might be able to help on this. Ever since I bought my
copy of Office 2007 a little over a month ago I have not been able to install
any of the updates. every time I try I get the ubiquitous error code 646. I
bought the Office 2007 because the version of Office 2003 that I purchased a
few years ago was now suddenly coming up as not genuine and all the
validation attempts I did online was unable to verify it's authenticity. I
don't know if that has anything to do with it but since the updates are still
finding and attempting to install updates for Office 2003 I am guessing
something has not gone quite right. Below is a list of the updates trying to
be installed.

Click Start, click Run, click Browse, locate the file that you saved and
then click Open.

Add the /wuforce switch to the end of the run command, and then click OK.
For example, the run command may appear as the following:
"C:\WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe" /wuforce
Click Run.

Follow the steps to complete the wizard.

To reinstall Windows Update Agent - download the relevant file from one of
the links provided above and save it to a drive where Vista is not loaded
because the file cannot be launched directly from the system root directory.

Click Start, click Run, type: "D:\WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe /wuforce"
(without quotations) and then press Enter to install the Windows Update

Note: There is a space between "D:\WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe" and

D: is the drive where Windows is not installed (ie a flash drive or a 2nd
hard drive etc)
