cannot update some approved task changes

Just wondering if anyone has seen this error message before.

"Some approved task changes cannot be updated in Project files. The
following projects were not updated correctly for the following reasons:
1. Project Bla: Microsoft Project Professional 2002 or Microsoft Office
Project Professional 2003 is required to update this project. If you are
already using either of these versions, verify that a correct account for
this Project Server has been set up and is currently the selected account by
pointing to Enterprise Options (Tools menu) and then clicking Microsoft
Office Project Server Accounts. If you are unable to start Project with the
correct account, contact your server administrator to make sure that the
enterprise features have been enabled on the Project Server.

I have two users getting this error, and the only thing that has changed for
them is that they each recieved a new laptop. There account info has not
changed in MS Project Pro, or PWA, or Windows Account, and their permissions
have not changed either. They both can connect to the Project server and
open projects from the server, just unable to accept updates.

Any ideas??

The URL for Project Web Access must exactly match the URL specified in the
Project Server user account in Microsoft Project Professional. Can you
confirm the two URL's are identical on each of these user's new laptops?
Let us know.

Hi Dale, to answer your question, the URL's are the same. Not sure if this
has anything to do with my users problems, but user stated he installed new
microsoft patches and was then not able to accept task changes. Was working
before doing updates.

poelski,

We have run into this before and the following has worked for us:

On the users' PCs:

Go to command line and type ipconfig /flushdns
This flushes the dns cache which may be causing them to be unable to connect
to Project Server.

Next go to Project Server Accounts (Start/All Programs/Microsoft/Microsoft
Office Tools/Microsoft Office Project Server Accounts) and delete their
current connection information. Close this window and then go back to
Project Server Accounts and recreate the connection to Project Server.

Hope this helps,

ad9aggie, thanks for the suggestion, but still no luck. User still gets the
same message.

There's no such word as "chanllenge." Thought you'd like to make that easy
fix.

OK, here is a little more information on the problem I am having, with a
couple of users and there new Tablet pc's. The users have no issues with
opening PWA and accepting a task update. Everything works the way it should.
When they accept an update and then hit the update button, MS Project Pro.
opens ans says everything is fine. The problem occurs when the same user,
then goes to accept another update in the same project with MS Project Pro
already open. That is when they get the error message stated in this
question. Now other users not using the Tablet pc's do not have this
problem. It seems like MS Project Pro is thinking that a different user has
the project checked out, and is not allowing them to accept the update. Any
thoughts or ideas??

If you're certain that the machines are using the identical URL to access
Project Web Access, as is set in their Project Server account, then there
may be something peculiar about the tablet OS version that is causing this
disconnect, however I haven't heard this from anyone in the past.

Yes I have verified that the same URL is being used. As for something being
peculiar about the tablet OS version, that is what I was thinking as well.
But in searching the web, blogs, and microsoft, I was not able to find
anything. Thanks for your help, and if you disover anything please let me
know. Thanks

I happened to be around a bunch of folks with tablets today, and I couldn't
find one that exhibited this behavior. Which brand of tablet are you using?
Maybe it's something else that's going on here.

We saw a number of problems with HP's credentials manager, so there may be
something in Gateway software load, some add-in perhaps, that is causing
this. I don't have much more to offer at this point than suggesting that you
look at the Gateway-specific services running on the machine and work
through a trial and error of turning things on and off.

This problem has not been resolved yet, but we have it narrowed down to some
gateway specific driver. We just have not had the time to start removing the
drivers and test. Will keep everyone informed on the progress.
