Cannot Update Task Hours submissions

I am unable to fully update a project's task hours:

I went into Project Server --> Updates and ACCEPTed all the tasks and
applied the UPDATE.

Project Professional opens but I get the Project Server Security Logon
dialog box. This box appears to be attempting to connect to the Proj
Server, but never fully connects until I click cancel. Then I am
prompted to select from the available accounts which is only My
Computer or the URL to our Project Server.

After clicking the Project Server URL (which is the default connection
& automatic detection is set), the project opens in Project Pro.

I receive a message that "Updates on this project have been completed.
You should save the project to have the changes committed. Save now?"
and OK is clicked.

It is then that the UNEXPECTED SERVER RESPONSE message box is
displayed. After OK is clicked on that message box, a message
indicating that all approved task changes have been successfully
updated in Project.

It turns out that none of the tasks are indeed updated, as they all
remain in the UPDATES page on PWA when I view that page.

Why can I successfully publish a project but not update it?

Would this perhaps have something to do with a McAfee bug. We have
McAfee 8.0 on our corporate image?
