cannot upload to servers with front page extensions

I have a website made with Front Page 2003. I changed ISP s a while ago, and
when I put in the username and password provided into remote website
properties to upload to the site, the log in page just keeps flashing back up
with this message:

The server australianskydivingadventures.com at
australianskydivingadventures.com requires a username and password.

Warning: This server is requesting that your username and password be sent
in an insecure manner (basic authentication without a secure connection).

I believed this to be a problem with the host, so changed hosts, but now
have had the same problem. (The host claims to have front page extensions
which work) On top of this, the navigation links on my home page have now
disappeared, so I can't access the rest of the website from the home page.
My web hosts believe it is a problem with front page, not the hosts. Any
advice on what to do with this? The website had been running fine for three
years before these dramas.
Thanks
Chris

OP should verify the host has extensions installed though.

Also, can you get the FrontPage log off the server. (NOT the IIS log. The
_FrontPage_ log). It is located in the web in a hidden folder called
/_vti_log/author.log. You will need to dig it out with Windows Explorer.
For best results, open in _WordPad_ that free word processor that comes with
windows. The carriage returns in Notepad won't be recognized.

What you are looking for is "URL_to_URL" repeatedly, along with "VERSION"
queries. If you have repeated lines (not just one, one is normal) then your
new ISP is using a proxy server (the cheap bastards) and messing up the
connection. (You may have the proxy server too, but just forgot.)

The issue is ISA Proxy (Microsoft) and many other proxies rebroadcast the
authenticated session (busting the tolkens that are used for that) and what
your computer sees is "please log in" what the proxy server sees is "please
log in", BUT when the proxy passes back what you typed the "hash value" on
the data is changed because it sits in between. The server then thinks you
didn't type the user/pass in right and re sends the "please log in" request.

You need a compelete bypass to the server, not an "allow all".

Thanks for looking at this. The support at my host has told me he has
"manually deleted the frontpage record for your domain and created it that
way." But the problem is not fixed. Is this a problem I can fix from my end?
Thanks
Chris

Hi again, I can't seem to get into these pages to check out if the server is
using a proxy. The only page I can get
is:http://www.australianskydivingadventures.com/_vti_inf.html
where I get
FrontPage Configuration Information
In the HTML comments, this page contains configuration information that the
FrontPage Explorer and FrontPage Editor need to communicate with the
FrontPage server extensions installed on this web server. Do not delete this
page.

This sounds to me like extensions are installed.
I'm still having the same log in flashing back when I go to log in.
Thanks
Chris
