Cannot Use Email Addresses From Contact Folder when sending Emails

Hello Everyone,
I am using Outlook 2003. My Contacts Folder is populated with astreet
ddresses, email addresses, etc. However, I cannot use the email addresses
contained in my Contacts Folder when I want to send an email.

After reading many of the Posts, I am still baffled. I have validated that
my Contacts Folder is designated as an Outlook Address Book (I checked the
box in the Properties Dialogue Box). I have also tried to remove the Outlook
Address Book and reload it. When I try to send an email, and hit the "To"
button, The Outlook Address Book appears in the drop-down box and says "No
entried in this address book" and when I select "Contact" from the drop-down
box, and it is empty.

Would someone please respond with some ideas...........thanks!

Is there more than one folder listed in the dropdown in the address book?

Vince....When the "Select Names" screen appears, the box shows the name
"Contacts". When I hit the drop down box, there are 2 separate entries:
Outlook Address Book, and under that is another line titled "Contacts"

OK... You've only got one contact-type folder, correct?

Did you import your contacts from somewhere else?

Thanks for helping Vince. My Outlook Contacts are populated by syncing my
Palm Pilot to Outlook Contacts. (I don't sync the Calendar)

If you add a contact by hand in Outlook, does it appear in the address book?
Also, if you edit one of the existing contacts and save it, does it show up
in the address book?

But editing the address of any existing contact adds them to the address
book? Very odd since that's what the utility I mentioned should do

When the utility started up, it asks for the folder you want to "resolve". If
you don't specify a folder, then the default is the "Contact" folder....makes
sense, right? So, the "first" time I ran the utility, I did not specify a
folder, assuming it would use the Contacts folder. Funny thing is that the
couple of items in the address book as a result of your earlier post (when I
tested editing, etc.) were deleted after the utility ran! I then ran the
utility again and specified the Contact folder and got the same results as
the first time.

I also have Outlook 2003 and the same problem. And I ran the "resolved"
utility on the Contacts folder. Still get the same message: "The address
list could not be displayed...". I also removed the Outlook Address Book
profile, stopped Outlook, restarted and got the following message: "This
account or directory type already exists and cannot be specified twice" ( I
only had the one profile to choose from).
If it's important, I've been backing up the outlook.pst file between my
laptop and my desktop...
