Cannot View My Tasks Permission Error

Stacey

Hi,

We have one user (Brad) who cannot get to the My Tasks View inside PWA. We
have another user (Steve) who can get My Tasks. Both users have the exact
same permissions (PWA/Server Settings/Manage Users). The error Brad is
getting is:

You do not have sufficient permissions to view the specified page. Please
contact your administrator for permissions to view this page.
Troubleshoot issues with Windows SharePoint Services.

Anyone have any thoughts on what is going on?

Thank you so much for your help!!

I've seen this when using AD as user\security source and when partial fail
(not blocking correlation) occurs. The solution was to select the user that
has access denied in the server settings - manage users - select user -
edit.. then do some irrelevant update (like change initials temporarely),
save/update. the problem would go away.

I think when scheduled AD groups sync occurrs, it takes the user out of the
groups, then re-assigns the rights based on AD settings etc and that last bit
can get itself in a knot (sans going to details)..

Hi Vaso,

Thank you for answering my post!! Unfortunately, I changed Brad's initials
and saved it and then had him try again, but he still gets the same error.
Any more suggestions??

Thanks!

Stacey,

Are permissions assigned to Brad and Steve specifically or have they been
assigned group permissions? Ideally you should assign group permissions and
add resources to the groups.

As an administrator you should have access to PWA Site Actions. While My
Tasks is displayed select Site Actions\Users and Permissions, ensure that
the group name or the resource is listed.

How about an error on the assignments themselves? We are tracking
some issues around this where either a person was deleted from the
task but the plan wasn't published, or the assignment itself has an
invalid date.

If you can open the plans that contain the tasks that generate the
assignments for these people, and republish them, that would be a
first step.

Let us know how it goes...
