Canon printer error 6000

M

Marice

I have Canon Pixma iP 4300, and it suddenly started displaying paper jam,
then stopped alltogether and displays error 6000. Have tried to switch in off
and on and unplugg it but nothing helps. The green and yellow lights are
flashing and there comes a peculiar sound once I switch it on.
Have checked the paper and changed the ink cartridges, too. Any ideas what
to do?

well, if you're running on Windows Server 2008, then you probbaly need
to download the Jet driver
Because Jet isn't supported on Windows Server 2008; and it's not
available for download anywhere.

Sounds like you might have a paper jam. Sounds like there might be a piece
of paper, or a scrap torn from a piece of paper, stuck somewhere in the
paper path. The "peculiar sound" once you switch it on could be a clue that
there is a problem of that sort as parts that are not free to move properly
grind against one another.

However, the best solution for your problem will come from the support site
at Canon. Try searching their site for references to that particular error
code. You might also want to contact the vendor who sold it to you, as they
might offer support.

Unfortunately, this is not the right place to seek support for printer
problems, as it is a site devoted to MS Access, the database program which
is part of some versions of the MS Office suite of applications.

What part of your response has ANYTHING to do with paper jams whatsoever?

Please, Aaron, my concern for you is not based on idle speculation or even
irritation. It is posts like this one, in which your statements are
completely disconnected from the reality of the question posted, which make
me concerned that you need to address your own issues first. Please seek
whatever assistance is available to you, and do so quickly.

well maybe the OP was trying to print in Jet from using Windows Server
2008.
I was just trying to help him, reminding him that even Windows Server
2008 doesn't support Jet.

Yes, dude. But WHY would you assume that it had anything to do with Windows
2008, or with Jet, or with printing from Jet? Other than the fact that the
person mistakenly posted here, which is in itself not all that uncommon by
the way, why on EARTH would you see that as yet another opportunity to
attack Jet and Access?

That's the heart of our growing concern here. What leap of (il)logic took
you from a paper jam error message thrown by a Canon printer to the
conclusion that a) it MIGHT be on a Windows server (2008 or otherwise) or
that b) it might be printing from Jet? Can you not see why that disconnected
response is so alarming? There is no connection between the two at all and
yet, there it is for all the world to see. It's an unhealthy obsession at
work here.

PLEASE, I know it is hard to admit, but it's probably time to get help, man.
You may still have a lot to offer to the world, based on your knowledge and
experience, but you're only going to get there by sorting out this unhealthy
obsession with a piece of software. And that's all it really is, a piece of
software. Access is not a person and it's done you no personal harm--it
can't harm you. It's a computer program!

because he says that he's having a printing problem, and the year is
2008. and he's in an Access newsgroup.
It's actually not that bad of a stretch.

I just had to remind everyone that Jet doesn't work on half of the
editions of Windows Server 2008; and on the other half- it requires
special drivers.
YEAH RIGHT Jet isn't getting killed.

unhealthy obsession = 'all you jet dorks reccomending jet over
everything else without examing the alternatives'

Then ask for clarification from the OP. Lots of people post here in error,
as George pointed out, and as your observations should be able to confirm.
Even if the OP is attempting to print from Access in a network environment,
assuming Server 2008 is random.

It's in an Access newsgroup. I'll assume it has to do with Access when
and where I want to-- it's an Access newsgroup!

Just because Jet doesnt' work on WIndows 2008 Server, that's somehow
_MY_ fault?
Maybe you should have used a reliable database that's not obsolete!

Actually your question may be better answered in a newsgroup appropriate
to your problem. This newsgroup is dedicated to the Microsoft Access
database product. The Microsoft website may have misdirected you. I would
surmise that calling Canon Tech Support might be the best solution.
