Can't Accept timesheet updates !!!

S

Stuart Futrill

After accepting the timesheets for a plan some of the
assignments are still sat in the UPDATE area.
There is a red flag next the assignments and a message at
the top reading "Save your project file with this task
change".

This started happening last week, so I applied SP1 to
project server 2002 and the 2002 clients. But the same
thing happens.

Can anyone help?

Please tell us if you see errors in the server application event log. If you
do see errors specific to Project Server, post them here.

Hi Gary

Yes I see 9 error entires in the application event log.
The errors were generated around the time we had the
update problem I described in my original post. I have
tried updating the plan again today, no errors are
reported now by the update process or in the event log,
but still assignments remain greyed out in the update area
of web access.

Here is a list of the errors in the order they appear in
the event log. BTW there are no files in the 'viewdrop'
folder. Thanks for your help...

The project file referenced in the error message has likely become
corrupted. Because you're not seeing the error messages repeatedly, we can
assume that this was caused by a fluke event. I suggest that you save the
project as an mpp file. If you use Enterprise Task codes and fields, copy
their values to local codes and fields to preserve them. Delete all
versions of the project using Admin > Cleanup the Project Server database.
Then, import and republish all the assignments choosing to overwrite actual
work in Project Web Access. If you're using 2003 and managed time periods,
you'll need to temporarily turn off managed time periods to perform this
action.

Hi Gary

I guess this may well be a fluke event. But we have seen
it on 3 of our 100 odd projects. The error prompted us to
actually get this service pack installed in the hope it
fixed the problem. After the update all looked well and
the plans that were greyed out in the update area
disappeared as we hoped. They could still be corrupt
though I guess.

One other point I did not mention. Although these
assignments seem to linger in the update area with
the 'Accept' option selected but 'greyed out' and the red
flag in the indicator column, the actual work the
assignments are reporting did successfully update and save
with the plan. So the issue we are left with is
almost 'cosmetic'. The plan is correct and upto date with
timesheet submissions, but the assignment updates are not
clearing from web access.

Thanks for your advice and time.

Regards

Stuart.

If you're satisfied with that the data made it to the plan, you can clean
these up in the MSP_WEB_TRANSACTIONS table one night after everyone
processes their pending updates.
