Can't access Word

Due to a crash, I reinstalled XP Pro to a new directory.
This has allowed me to reclaim ALMOST everything, however, when I try to run
Word, I get an error message that says "This user does not have access...
(or something similar.)
Is there a registry hack I can use to allow the current session to access
Word?

I think what you would have to do is restart Windows XP Pro in "Safe Mode"
and give full rights to to everyone. Then restart back in normal mode and
check to see if the permissions have been disabled allowing you to enter
back in to the files, restore the access permission.
