Can't attach a template

D

disburg

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel I have a custom template I need to attach to a document, but when I open the templates and add-ins pane, the "attach..." button is gray, and I can't type anything in the box or open the navigation window to browse for my template. The template was created in Word 2004, but I opened and resaved it using 2008, saving it in the "My templates" folder.

Any ideas?

Well, may sound stupid, but do you have a document open? That's about the
only time I've ever seen that dialog dimmed. It's necessary to be able to
open the Templates & Add-ins dialog with no doc open, but you can't do
anything with it other than install Add-ins.

If that isn't the problem the only other suggestion is to make sure you have
both Office (12.2.4) & OS X (10.5.8) fully updated, that you've repaired
disk permissions & restarted - fundamental troubleshooting.

Should the problem continue reply with any additional details, such as
whether it's only a specific document or whether it dims regardless of what
file is open. Perhaps someone else has as an insight on it.
