Can't capture text from image data file.

The windows capture should have been saved in MS Paint or similar program as
a BMP, TIF or JPG that FineReader can recognize. If it is saved as an image
in Word (Edit, Paste) you won't be able to read it with the OCR software.

To do this, start Paint (located Start/Programs/Accessories). Minimize
Paint. Start the application you want to capture and then push PrntScrn on
the keyboard when you have your image. Expand paint to the desktop and hold
Ctrl and press the V key to paste the image into paint. Save as a BMP or
TIF image (preferably as a B & W image, not color) Open your OCR software
and see if it can read the image.

To do screen captures, I use a free, easy to use product called Screen
Hunter 4 free from
http://www.wisdom-soft.com/products/screenhunter.htm.

Allows you to set a default incrementing file name for repeated captures to
the location you specify on your hard drive or just to the clipboard. You
can also set it to capture the entire desktop, the active window or an area
you select (which is great for capturing text without graphics.)
