Can't change Custom fields or outline codes in MS Project Server 2

Does anyone know how to actually change Custom fields or outline codes in MS
Project Server 2007? I confirmed that the option through the 2007 MS Project
Desktop client when connected to the Server and after you checked out the
global template does not allow you to choose fields when you follow this path
Tools/Customize/ Fields is grayed out and will not allow you to select this
any longer.

If you are trying to change the definition of Enterprise Custom Fields and
Lookup Tables, then this is done in PWA, not via the client. In PWA, go to
the Server Settings page and you'll see a link for Enterprise Custom Field
Definition in the Enterprise Data section.

I am having the same problem. I am not trying to change the enterprise
custom fields. I was trying to rename the field "Flag1". Has anyone
found out how to do this in PS2007?

So, I can't edit the custom field.

We have a Custom Field "roadmap" that links to a lookup talbe
"roadmap".
PWA does not allow me to change the custom attribute fro the lookup
table to "none"
we'd like it to just be a blank field where we put in our own data,
not a lookup table set of data.

Thanks!

Once a Enterprise Custom Field has been associated with a Lookup Table, it
cannot be dis-associated with that table, for various consistency reasons.
To acheive the affect you are looking for, you'll need to delete the
existing "roadmap" Custom Field and re-create it, and don't associate it
with a Lookup Table.

Keep in mind that this means that users will be able to type in any value
they like, and one user may enter something like "Phase 1" and another may
enter something like "Step 1" which may both mean the same thing, but they
won't actually be the same thing in Project Server or Project Professional
when filtering or sorting. Using a Lookup Table ensures that users all
enter the same value to mean the same thing.

Hope this helps,
Sharry

One important thing I forgot. Deleting the "roadmap" Custom Field means
that any values that anyone has set for their projects will also be deleted.
To avoid this, you can leave the Custom Field intact, and just create a new
Custom Field (like "roadmap 2" or something) until everyone has had a chance
to enter a new value into the new field. Once they have done that, you can
then delete the "roadmap" custom field and rename "roadmap 2" to "roadmap".

hi Drevil
another work around to keep your DATA from beeing lost is to creat
that new field roadmap 2
and just run a simple SQL Query and insert to fill this new field from
the old field
after that you can delete the old field and the new field will not be
a lookup table and will still keep the values

You've probably already discovered this by now but I thought I would answer
just in case you haven't. In PWA as an administrator you should see on the
Quick Launch, Server Settings, click on that. Then you should see under
Enterprise Data, Enterprise Custom Field Definiton.
Cheers!
