can't change margins without changing pages

B

BrinyBeach

With Word 2000, even if I highlight just the text on a
page for which I want to have different margins than the
rest of the page, and choose "selected text," the selected
text gets put on a separate page. (I'm trying to write a
screenplay, which requires 1.25" left/right margins for
the narrative and 2.5" left/right margins for the
dialogue...all on the same page.) Please help me by
sending the answer to this problem to [email protected]
and putting ANSWER in all caps in the subject line, so I
know it's not spam. THANKS!!!

What you should do is set the left and right margins to 1.25" and define
paragraph styles for the narrative and for the dialog and format the style
for the dialog so that the paragraph indent is 1.25 for both the Left and
Right Indent. Then use the appropriate style for the text concerned. You
can simplify this by recording macros which you assign to the keyboard of
the action of invoking each of those styles.
