Can't change the date

I have a cell that reads: 3-Dec

Now I want to change this to 12/3/03

But it wont Change! Even if I delete it or clear contents, stays 3-Dec.

Am I not allowed to change my mind. It's like Excel wont let it go.

Hi,

try:

Format > Cells > Number > Date

and choose the format you want.
