Can't check out a project

Hi,#

I am using Project Server 2003 with MS Project Professional 2003. I have one
project which I cannot see when I go to file and open in Project Prof. I also
can't see it in the database table MSP_PROJECTS. Although I can see the
project in the project list on the Project Server. If I click on Edit from
Project Web Access it errors saying:

You cannot edit details for a non-enterprise object or to-do list.

If I click Open from Project Web Acces it errors saying:

The selected Projects could not be opened in Project.

It seems like a non-enterprise object is causing the error but unsure how to
change this.

Thanks

A bit more info after some digging. It looks like the project has been
published with a type of workgroup rather than enterprise. Is there a way to
change this?

The reason you cannot open the project is because it is NOT an enterprise
project and it is NOT stored in the Project Server database. The user has
saved the project as an MPP file on his/her hard drive or somewhere on a
network drive. Furthermore, your Project Server administrator has failed to
select the "Allow only enterprise projects to be published to this server"
option on the Server Configuration page in PWA, which allowed this problem
to happen in the first place. Here is what you need to do to rectify this
problem:

1. The Project Server administrator needs to delete the project information
from the Project Server database. NOTE: This action will NOT delete the
MPP file.
2. The Project Server administrator needs to go to PWA, click Admin -
Server Configuration, and then select the "Allow only enterprise projects to
be published to this server" option, and then click the Save Settings
button.
3. The PM of this mysterious project needs to use the Import Project Wizard
in Project Professional 2003 (Tools - Enterprise Options - Import Project to
Enterprise) to import the MPP file into the Project Server.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Thank you very much! That has worked and got us most of the way to a
resolution. The problem now is:

I got the PM to send me the mpp and I published it to the site. When it
asked if I wanted to create new or update I clicked update. It has now
created another project workspace. unfortunately there are items/lists on the
old project workspace. is there an easy way to transfer this?
