They are read only because they are on a cd. You cant just change the
and save them back on to the CD.
Copy them to a local folder, edit them there and then write them bac
to the CD if its rewritable. Or use one of the fancy Cd rewritin
programs

After you use windows explorer to copy the files from the CD to the harddrive,
you can select the files (as many as you want), rightclick on them and choose
properties.

You can remove the readonly attribute on the General tab.

You don't have the file open in any other application, do you?

(I opened a test file in excel and could still change the attributes, but not
all programs may be so nice.)

If you reboot your pc (just to make sure nothing running hidden has control of
that file), can you change the attributes?

That previous response was a guess.

Can you change the attributes of any file on your harddrive?

Is this a work pc or is this a home pc?

If it's a work pc, you may want to talk to your IT group to find out if they put
restrictions on what users can do to "their" pcs.

If it's a home pc, it sounds like the user who is logged on doesn't have those
rights--can you log on as an administrator to see if that works?

This is a work PC and I am not in the admin. group and I think that this is
most of the
problem, I am signed in as a user only and there seem to be alot of
restictions. I will talk to the IT guy, what ever happened to trust? I
guess in some cases it is nessessary, but in this one I can do my job unless
I have some access. Wish me luck.
Thanks for all your help

Good luck.

If the IT folks can't fix it, maybe they can suggest a workaround--a network
drive that you could use maybe???
