Can't copy Powerpoint Slide into Word as Microsoft Powerpoint Slide Object

M

Miguel

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: intel

I often need to copy a couple of Powerpoint slides into Word documents. Copying them as "Pictures" renders a very low quality both for on-screen and printed formats. When I attempt to copy a slide as "Microsoft Powerpoint Slide Object" I get an "There is insufficient Memory. Save document now" message, and obviously no paste. I have tried several basic workarounds, including restarrting, closing all applications and altering all combinations between .doc, docx, .ppt and .pptx. I have the latest updates and service packs both for Office 2008 and OSX. Does this happen to anyone else? Is there a workaround that gets the job done?

I am afraid this is a known (and inexcusable!!) bug.

Please use Help>Send Feedback to report it to Microsoft.

In the meantime, use Save As to save your presentation as PDF, then use
Insert>Picture from Word to insert the slide(s) you want as PDF pictures.

That will get you the full resolution slide into the document without the
histrionics.

Hope this helps

Have you updated Office with SP1 (12.1.0)? I believe it was supposed to at
least improve if not correct this.

Thanks Bob! I think this'll do the trick (so much for seamlessness, though!). Hope future updates address this!

Bob, I have 12.1.1, I like to keep my updates up-to-date! You are right, though, it seems 12.1.0 solved a similar issue for another scenario (if I remember right, some people had trouble opening e-mail attachments and the error message was the same). Hope they solve it soon; John McGie kindly directed me to a work-around, creating a pdf of the slide and pasting that, for now.

Thanks for the prompt response!
