Cant create a new word document.

ERIC.S

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel When I go to create a new document nothing shows up in the print layout view. There is an edge of a whit box, when I double click on it I get the document properties, it wont allow me to click on the layout tab. I get a not sayiong that the measurment must be between 0.1 and 22, but I didn't type in any numbers. I can open an existing word document, delete all the text and start a new document that way, but that is getting old. Any ideas?

Before anything else confirm that Office & OS X are fully updated... 12.2.3
is the current update for Office, 10.5.8 for your flavor of OS X. Restart
your Mac & Repair Disk Permissions after applying any updates.

If the problem continues after following those suggestions you may have a
corrupt/damaged Normal.dotm template. Make sure you Quit all Office programs
& follow the procedure detailed here:

Your Normal.dotm is corrupt, find it, and delete it.

Also: Look for any other files called simply "Normal" with no extension.
They are old Normal templates left over from Word 2004. Delete them too.

If you delete Normal.dotm, Word will go looking for "Normal". If it can't
find it, it will create a brand new, completely standard Normal.dotm, and
all will be well again.

Then set your Default printer, and quit Word to force it to save the new
file.

You will be good after that.
