Can't create or edit notes

I can't edit existing notes or create new notes. Also, some menus are inactive.
The files are not "read only."
I used One Note for several months without any problem.

Sounds like OneNote is in reduced functionality mode. Perhaps you need to
activate the software or maybe it's a trial that expired? Try Help ->
Activate Product or Help -> Office Diagnostics.
