Can't create, view or accept Calendar Items

We had a problem where users couldn't create Calendar Items in their own
Calendar, accept meeting requests or view items in the Calendar of others.
The solution we found was using IE7 Reset settings functionality (also known
as RIES) After this, the problem was solved. If anyone could tell us WHY
resetting IE7 settings solves problems under Outlook, let us know!

We've found that using the Reset Settings in IE7 solves many vague problems,
like one out of 400 users who suddenly can't view videos (and getting a "This
operation is not allowed by current security settings" error) or where
certain web pages just will not load. If anyone can tell us why resetting IE7
settings clears those problems, we want to know!!! Apart from explaining
things to management, we want to make sure there's nothing else wrong in our
domain which is the main cause for these problems.
