can't delet email

I am using Outlook 2000, and can't delete email. Every
time I try it says "Messaging Interface has Returned an
unknown error. If the problem persists, restart
Outlook". I restart it, and it still happens. I can send
and receive mail and delete other items, just not
messages. I have already installed the service paks
posted. Has anyone else had this problem?
