can't delete a folder

Hi There,
I use Outlook with XP SP2.
I have a large number of folders and one of those folders got so big, nearly
1.8gb, that I decided to split the data into two folders. I did this by
making the two new folders then moving the files from the original folder
into one or the other of the new folders till the original folder had no
files left in it.
I then tried to delete the original folder and couldn't.
Can anyone help please with deleting this old folder?

what happens when you try? Default outlook folders can't be deleted as long
as the message store is the default delivery location.

Hi Diane,
Thanks for responding.
When I right click on the folder I get the message "the operation failed.
An object cannot be found".
The folder is there and it has sub folders of deleted items and search
folders in it.
Is this enough information?
