can't delete messages in Outlook

Suddenly I can no longer delete any messages in my outlook
email area...when I try I keep getting the message :

"C/docmnets and settings/my name-a sring of numbers/local
settings/app data/microsoft/outlook/mailbax.pst could not
be accessed. Data error (cyclic redundancy check)"

Any ideas?

Close Outlook and run the Inbox Repair Tool (SCANPST.EXE) on that file.
Also run SCANDISK.
