Cant delete text after i highlight it

When i click down on my mouse and drag it over text, and then hit the
backspace button, the text doesn't get deleted, the cursor just goes to the
beginning of the highlighted text. How do i fix this so i can delete text
after i highlight t?

Have you tried highlighting, and then touching Delete?

In the Options dialog, check the box for "Typing replaces selection".
