Can't distribute toolbar in Word 2000

I am experiencing a problem with distributing a custom
toolbar I created in a Word 2000 template file. The
template file with the custom toolbar resides on a LAN
file server. If I instantiate the template as a document,
the toolbar appears also appears in the toolbar; but, if I
copy the document to my desktop, the document on my
desktop has the toolbar missing. Strangely, if I copy the
template file from the file server to my desktop and
instantiate it as a document on my desktop, the toolbar
will display in this document. I do not understand why
there should be any difference. Would anyone please
inform me as to why I lose the toolbar if I copy a
document on a file server (which has the toolbar) to my
desktop?

It apparently is not picking up the attachment to the base template. I don't
know why this would be a problem. However, you might want to keep your
templates in the user templates folder or workgroup templates folder rather
than on your desktop or elsewhere.

For more on the different kinds of templates and locations of templates
folders see http://addbalance.com/usersguide/templates.htm.
See http://addbalance.com/word/movetotemplate.htm for step-by-step
instructions on moving / sharing / copying customizations including
AutoText, AutoCorrect, keyboard assignments, macros, etc.
