Word 2007 and customized "toolbars"?

Nina

Hello,

I am new to Word 2007; however, I am experienced in Word 2003. As you know,
in Word 2003, one was able to create a customized toolbar and assign it to a
particular template or even Normal.dot. In this way, users of the template
would be able to access the features of the customized toolbar.

Now, I am at a loss. Is there any way to do what I've described above in
Word 2007? (My operating system is Windows XP.) My goal is to create
templates that are user-friendly for non-Word-experienced authors.

Would appreciate any guidance.

The customization options are limited in Word 2007. What you can do is
customize the Quick Access Toolbar for a particular document or template.

Since my original post, I have read that one can access toolbars from Word
2003 by "Add-ins." Not having Word 2003, is there any hope?

You can edit the ribbon and create a custom ribbon for your template. To
give you an idea - take a look at the template you can download from
http://www.gmayor.com/Extras/Invoicer.zip that I have been playing around
with. It is not yet completely bug fixed, but it does work as provided and
the buttons on the ribbon do work. Install it as a user template and create
a new document from it. To see how to modify the ribbon, take a look at

Thanks so much. Between Stefan's and Graham's suggestions, think I can come
up with something satisfactory!
