Not sure which detection you're referring to in this case. For the Office2007 Beta 2 Technical Refresh update patch (B2TR) neither
MS Update or Officeupdate carries it. The downloads are available from the 'Office' section of
http://microsoft.com/downloads.
If you're referring to applying/installing rather than downloading to your computer from the website then if the MS Installer is
outdated or broken then that would need to be fixed first. However, it could also be a corrupted download of the update.
What is the exact error message you're getting? (B2TR is a patch, to Office 2007 Beta 2, not a standalone copy of MS Office 2007)

I tried down loading the technical update for beta 2 and cannot do it. It
crashes during the detection process. Any suggestions? I have multiple
problems related to Window Installer missing. Not sure if there is any
connection >>
