Can't download through VPN

Even though I can connect to my work VPN and access files, internet etc. I
cannot download my outlook 2003 files through the MS Exchange Server. Any
ideas?

Make sure you can access and ping the server by its FQDN.
Do you have Office 2003 SP1 installed?
Are you on the same subnet as the Exchange server?
