can't edit equation object

If i create an equation object, close and open it again to edit it, i get the
message:

This object is corrupt or is no longer available.

I desinstalled the equation editor and reinstalled it. No change. I
reinstalled Word, then at first it worked again, but after a while the same
message appeared again.

Please help me out of this...

If you are using Symantec/Norton AntiVirus, try disabling the Office
Plugin that comes with it (but do not disable Norton AutoProtect). See

Ouf, yes that was it, thank you very much, i already feared that i must spend
sleepless nights to solve this...
