Can't enlarge document size more than 6 x 8

When I create a new document the paper size is 6" x 8" and I can't find a way to make it larger. Page Setup says the paper size is 8.5 x 11, but it's not. How can I make the paper/page size 8.5 x 11 and reset this as default?

Open your Normal.dotm template, make the change, and save it.

I have the same problem except that all my documents are 8.5 x 14. When I select 8.5 x 11 nothing happens. When I reset the normal.dotm template nothing happened. Help?

I found the answer elsewhere...
close word find the normal.dotm (finder -> user -> username -> library - > Application Support -> Microsoft -> Office -> User Templates -> normal.dotm) select it and move it to the trash. then you can set up your new template as you like.

Hi John;

I'm not sure what you meant be "reset the normal.dotm template", but if you
opened Normal to make the change - or any settings that way - you also need
to make some other change in the template. If you just type a space then
backspace before you close & save Normal the settings will hold.

The solution you used is fine except that if you have other customizations
you'll lose them when you replace the template.
