can't even open it

when i click on the icon i get a message that "this action
is only valid for products already installed" but my other
user can enter no problem. all of my documents say the
same message even if i open them from their user id.
please help

I, too, get the same error message. I've reloaded from discs to no avail. I've done all the re-associating (winword /r) stuff. My situation is I started with Word 2000 from a OEM Works. Installed Office 2000 Pro over that and again installed Office XP Pro over that. I've been living with this for my whole XP Professional OS experience when upgrading from Windows ME from an OEM install.

I've uninstalled/reinstalled Office (what a pain with all the security updates!). Uninstalled each application and the same error message appears: ..."this action is only valid for already installed products".

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!! somebody! Post to this thread!
