can't find Microsoft Project 9.0 OLE DB on my list of OLE DB Providers

probably because i'm running access 2003 and the instructions i have are for
project / access 2000
(http://www.msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnproject/html/projoledb.asp)
... could anyone assist in locating / installing this or providing notes on
how to achieve the same using access 2002 or 2003 as this is a last
desparate attempt to salvage a corrupt project file that can not be opened
with project and all we really want is the task list so we don't have to
re-type it. I've spoken to the IT dept and it seems that they've had a
problem with backups and can't retrieve a prior (uncorrupted) version of the
file!?!

any ideas would be greatfully received.

Cheers

Hi JulieD,

I just stepped through the directions at:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/pdr/PDR_CreateDap_3351.asp

and it worked. The information in the link is for Access 2002 and Project
2002. The Project OLE DB reference was to Project 10.

(Please note my knowledge of Data Access pages is *very* limited.) Once I
had the data connection following the directions I was able to generate the
page by dragging fields from the Task Table (TaskName) and TaskDuration. Of
course I tried this on a non-corrupt Project file.

Hope this helps.

Hi Julie,

Yes the Project 10 OLE DB provider did appear once I went to the
"Other/Advanced" choice in the Data Connection Wizard.

According to the Prjoledb.htm file "To view data access pages on a local
provider, you need to use Microsoft Access 2000 or 2002 along with Microsoft
Project installed on the computer viewing the provider. Microsoft Project
automatically installs the OLE DB Provider, any international .dll, the
appropriate registry keys, and any needed ActiveX controls."

So I don't know if modification of your installation of Project is in order.
Sorry, I installed project so long ago I don't recall the installation
settings I selected. I do know I installed Project *after* installing Access.

Hope this helps.
Cheers!
