Can't Find .pst File - Help!!!

S

Spike9458

I just got Outlook 2003 loaded on my friends laptop with WindowsXP. I saved
her contacts list to a new pst file, and put that on the laptop. When I do a
search for outlook.pst, it shows up, but when I go to explorer and look for
it to delete it, the local settings folder is not there. Seem to me like
it's hidden or something, but I can't find it!

Also, when I open the secondary pst file in outlook, the new folders do not
become a subfolder of the default contacts folder, and thus, when doing a
mail merge to email, the secondary pst file folders do not appear in the
list to choose from. Since I can't seem to find the outlook.pst file to
delete and replace, there must be a way to make the other file the default
or something.

Thanks in advance.

2 questions here and a piece of advise ;-)

1) You must set Explorer to view hidden files;
Control Panel-> Folder Options-> tab View

2) You can control what pst-file is the default by going to;
Tools-> E-mail Accounts-> button Next-> dropdownlist below

3) Advise: Don't delete and replace a pst-file or you could end up
corrupting your mail profile. First control which pst-file is the default as
described in step 2. Then restart Outlook and rightclick the pst-file you
would like to remove from Outlook and choose Disconnect. Restart Outlook to
release the lock on the pst-file and delete the pst-file from Explorer.
