Can't find the c:\office directory!

I'm troubleshooting some publishing problems we're having and the App logs
report that there's a error loading the View Notification Server and that the
path is C:\office\dev........

I don't have a path on my system such as this....could this be why it's
failing to publish?

It would be extremely advantageous to you, if you posted the actual error

Sandy:

The errors indicate that the Views Notification service is failing to start
under the NT AUTHORITY\LOCAL SERVICE account. You need to troubleshoot why
this identity is not working. The path is simply an alias that the system is
using and shouldn't be taken literally. Is this a new system? Did you ever
have publishing working? Have you made network changes lately?

I just changed the credentials on the PjViewNotify service to the
administrator domain account and reset the service, attempted to republish a
project and got the same errors in the App Log. The errors are also
referencing that it's still attempting to use the NT Authority\Local Service
User account...

This system is a fairly new system, only 3 months in use so far. We have 2
out of 6 systems that published fine but now the other 4 won't. What's worse,
I've inherited the server and had to 'figure it out' - my first inpulse is to
reinstall it all. Our network has stayed the same now for 1 year +

An other thoughts on this one? I can't figure out where else to look.....

Sandy:

You might need to reboot to affect a change like that. If these suddenly
stopped working we'd expect to see some errors in tha application event log
that reflected when the problem started.

Gary,

I restarted my system and I'm still getting the errors in the App log. I
noticed that the user is still Nt Authority\Local Service - could that be
because it needs to run as a service?

The only previous errors I can locate are Errors in the App log like:

Type: Error
Source: Microsoft Project Server Tracing Eventlog Provider
Event ID: 2
Event Time: 6/16/2004 4:07:25 PM
User: NT AUTHORITY\LOCAL SERVICE

Error Number: 0x8c04000d

included.
