Can't follow link in Outlook. Page cannot be displayed

I have a user that is getting emails with links to web sites in them. When
he clicks on the link, he gets an Internet Explorer page that says Page
Cannot be Displayed. If he copies the link and then pastes it in the URL, it
work. I think this is either a IE error, or a setting in Outlook. Can
anyone shed any light on this?

If you were to click on a link that someone placed at the end a sentence to
which they added a period, you might see this. With the period at the end,
the URL is incorrect. If, however, you were to select the URL, chances are
you'd avoid the period and then the URL would work. Perhaps this is what is
happening.
