can't fully uninstall earlier version of Office xp on preowned com

I purchased a 6 mo old HP Pavillion runnign windows xp which had office xp
installed. After uninstalling, also uninstalling with the windows install
cleanpup utility, and deleting the Office 10 registry info from registry
editor, and then installing my own version of Office xp, Word, when opened,
still displays the previous owner's name (wouldn't matter) but it also has a
couple of glitches on opening (Main Addin couldnot be found and Compile Error
in hidden module: main module). Anyone have any tip how to get rid of the
previous owner's info permanently?
Thanks,

Apart from Office info, who knows what else is left from previous user.
The ideal solution whould be either clean install win or use the recovery cd
to put the sys back to origonal spec, update win, before installing your
software.
If the hp sys was origonally supplied with OfficeXp, and it is the version
you require, there is no real need to install your version, as you are now
the owner of the origonal.

Hi,
I was the first to make recovery disks for this computer, which, of course,
I had to do with his software already on it. So I presume I would still have
the same problem.
Thanks

Not at all, a recovery cd, puts the sys back to its origonal supplied spec.
If by recovery cd you mean you created the hp recovery cd.
