Can't get rid of Task Pane...

In Word 2003, I was trying to get rid of the Taskpane that
shows up after install. In Tools->Options->View, and I
unclicked "Startup Task Pane". However, the Taskpane
doesn't disappear.

Why does that happen and how do I get rid of the Task Pane?
