I can't get the slide show to advance, no matter what the transition time is

Is there a sound file on the offending slide? If so see:
Play sounds across multiple slides (a WAV runs through it)

yes, there is sound on the offeneding slides,there are no click on
animations, and what happens if I want to the the PP to other people to play
animations, and what happens if I want to the the PP to other people to play
