Can't get to Design mode?

Tony Williams

I have a report that I'm trying to amend the position of the labels and
controls but I don't seem to be able to get True Design mode? I'm using
Access 2007. All I can get is the View mode which icon is a green folder and
the report looks like it's in Design mode but the controls and labels wont
move independently.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Tony

"can't get" doesn't tell us much...

How are you trying to get into design mode?

Hi Tony

Access 2007 (in fact Office 2007) is quite different isn't it? Takes a bit
of getting used to.

This threw me at first too.

Try right clicking on the report in the sidebar and choosing 'design view'
.... hopefully that'll be what you're after.

and controls still wont work independently?

The Controls and Labels are anchored together in design view with Access 2k7,
changing the position of one control will change all the others. I think this
is what you mean?

With the form in design mode, select either all controls by dragging over
them all to highlight both the control and the label. Click on the arrange
ribbon. click (I Think its the fourth Icon from the left) Called Remove.

This will remove all the Anchors I believe, if it doesn't try each control
in turn, highlight both the control and the label and click remove on the
arrange ribbon.

I cannot verify this as my A2k7 version is on the company laptop but I think
this is pretty close without firing that machine up.

Thanks Mike that did it. Why did Microsoft do this I wonder? It's a real
pain when they introduce things like this without any obvious solution. I
would never have thought of looking at Arrange.
Thanks again
Tony
