can't get word to start

I had to reinstall ms office 97, yeah i know its an old
version. Now, i can get all other parts of office to work
but word. When I try to start word it shuts down and
gives me page fault at mssp232.dll.

Did you have a service pack applied before you
reinstalled? You'll often get dll errors like this when
the versions are wrong. If you had a service pack
applied, try reapplying and see if that takes care of the
error.

It's pretty wordy, but basically it says to delete the
proofing tools key, proof folders and reinstall. At
least it's a good place to start.

don't know what worked. but the bottom line is word is
now/ok a few minutes ago opening and working correctly.

Sorry about the spell check, though... weird.

Did you try the article (renaming the proof folder, etc.)
or the service pack? Or both? Try running a repair (or
reinstall) on Office. It should see the missing files and
replace them.
