Can't go to stand by mode

Ever since I downloaded the Microsoft "Hotbar" program
into my Outlook 2000, I can no longer send my computer
into a standby mode after disconnecting from the Internet.
I have uninstalled same, however the problem still
persists. Does anyone know what I need to do to resume
the status of my system before Hotbar was installed? It
has been suggested to me that Hotbar is actually some sort
of spyware program, that maintains some hidden file, even
after an uninstall. Is there HELP out there?
Thanks to one and all,
Joyce

There are lots of sites out there that can help you with this -- here's
one of them:

http://www.pchell.com/support/hotbar.shtml

If you want to look for others, go to www.google.com and search on
"remove hotbar".

Also, I'd suggest downloading a good spyware checker program like
Lavasoft's AdAware 6, so you can periodically check your system for
spyware and other undesirable files left on your system without your
knowledge.
