Can't import Clip Art Downloaded from Microsofts site in Office 2004

Tom

I am the systems admin at a small school we are running office 2004 on
our emac and imacs. The users authenticate through a server to get
access to their managed accounts. The programs reside locally on the
computers.

You can download clipart files from the microsoft website, The files
are then download to the managed account users desktop.
From there you open the clip art manager and click import but the
clipart on the desktop is grey out?

If you try to drag the file to the clipart folder in the finder it
errors out. All the version updates have been run on the computer for
MS Office 2004 and the OS Version is 10.4.10

Should the clipart be downloaded to another place?

Can anyone help with this, it is very frustrating..........

Where it's d/l to really makes no difference, but the clipart is coming from
the Dark Side as a .cil file which can't be imported directly to the
Gallery. Try having the user simply double-click the file icon. It "should"
add the clip(s) directly to the Gallery (opening the .cil allows the
piece(s) of clipart within to be recognized as such)... Just make sure
Office is completely up-to-date. If any different behavior post back with
details.

I've tried double-clicking as well as the Clipart Import command for the .cil
file but nothing happens. I used to get an error message like Tom but since
I reloaded Office 2004 it doesn't crash Clipart...it just doesn't do anything
when attempting to import. Any other suggestions CyberTaz? Many thx.

A ClipArt icon used to appear on my desktop. Then, if I added the .cil extension and dragged the icon to the Clip Art gallery, everything worked fine. Now after download the clipart I get a ClipArt.mpf on my desktop. Can't seem to drag it, import it, or rename the extension. What to do?

I'm having the same issue. I used to simply rename the ClipArt file
to ClipArt.cil and then import directly from the Clip Gallery. Now,
it's not working. I guess this is what we get for installing
Microsoft Products anywhere near a Mac... I'm buying Apple's iWork
today...Pages is simple and concise.

Did you try the instructions we posted?

And I am wondering: why did you want to tell us that you were buying iWork?
How would that affect anyone here?

Cheers

I followed your instructions and it works great if the clipart is downloaded without an extension. If I add the extension .cil to the clipart name, then I can click on it and it is added to the clip gallery. However, if it is (for reasons I don't understand) downloaded with the extension .mpf, then it does not get added to the clip gallery - even if I change its extension to .cil. The only thing I can figure out is that certain clips get downloaded as .mpf and others are a different file type that can be imported into Office 2004. (P.S. I have Office 2004 and updated it yesterday).
