can't insert hyperlink - dropping the "%20" signs

Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel I am trying to insert a hyperlink to my dropbox file (link below). When I add it, it shows fine in the box. But when I re-highlight the text, and click "edit hyperlink" to check it, it shows as "http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2219261/DougLouie Vice President of Marketing.pdf"
It seems that the OSX can't keep the %20 and replaces with a space, which then causes the link to break.

correct link
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2219261/DougLouie Vice President of Marketing.pdf

The other interesting thing is that if I create a powerpoint in WinXP with the same link, it will work when I open it on the Mac.

How do I fix this on my Mac so that I can insert this type of link?
Thanks
