Can't install Office 2000 SR1a

Hi all,

We are trying to install SR1a to our Office 2000 Premium machines. They were
installed using a CD which was copied to a shared folder on our server. Now
when we run the SR1a update (in the hope we can eventually upgrade to SR3)
it asks for the license agreement to be agreed then it says that the updates
are available to it (we have downloaded the full install) then it starts.
After 10 seconds or so it fails saying contact microsoft support and that an
error log has been created (office 2000 (0001).txt or something).

Please help!!!

Hi, Chris,

Have you looked in the error log to see if you can figure out where it's
failing?

They're not really easy to interpret, but that would be the first place to
look. Also, if you post back with the exact error message you get and any
number associated wth it, someone may be able to help you diagnose further.

See if this helps, too:

Thanks for the help Susan.

It turns out that our group policy was too restrictive. So we created an new
ou (with no security) and installed the updates. Then moved the computers
back into the restrictive OU.

Thanks for replying though.
