Did the error say "OneNoteMobile.CAE"? Or is that a typo on your part? It
shouldbe a .CAB file.

What version of Windows Mobile are you running on your device?

That was what I saw????, I know that it should be CAB, then I went to the
folder on Office 12, copied the CAB, paste it in the PPC, try to install
it and gave me the same answer, this time , it said CAB, by the way, I'm
running WM2003,

You should install OneNote Mobile by opening OneNote and then doing
Tools-->Options-->Other and click the install button.

Also if you are running the OneNote tray icon, which you should by default
it will prompt you to install once you have cradled your phone.

Also note you need Active Sync 4.1 to get this working (or at least 4.0+).

That's the way I originally did it, still keep saying the same: not a
winCE cab file

I'm having the same Problem, I've tried it on both my Pocket PC (Windows
Mobile 2003), and the both say:
"Setup Failed"
"The file '\Windows\AppMgr\Install\Microsoft Office OneNote Mobile
[Beta].CAB' is not a valid Windows CE Setup file."

I've also tried manually copying the CAB file over, and receive the same
error.

Ah! I am just dumb here, I didn't fully read you email correctly.

OneNote Mobile is supported on the following platforms:
o Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC
o Windows Mobile 5.0 for SmartPhone
o Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC

PocketPC 2003 is not a supported platform and that is why you see the error
that you do.

There are now checks in place so when you click on that button it does a
version check for your phone's compatibility, however this was not in the
Beta2 builds.

Hope this is clear now.

Is WM2005 PPC so critical for OneNote Mobile?

There is no plan to support older versions of WM for PPC. The WM5 OS is the
same on both Smartphone and PPC (the shell is a little different) so we were
able to get ON Mobile working on PPC for WM5 but WM 2003 for PPC is just too
different. Sorry.

Going forward new devices are all going to be WM5 or later so when we are
finished with OneNote 2007 there will have been WM5 devices shipping for 2
years.

Plus, we're "2007" so going back to "2005" (WM5) seems good enough, no? <g>
