can't install service pack 1

Help.
I cannot install Office XP Service Pack 1.
I get this error:
Error 1328. Error applying patch to file.
G:\Config.Msi\PT1A1.tmp. It has probably been updated by
other means, and can no longer be modified by this patch.
For more information, please contact your patch vendor.

Does anyone know what this means? I don't recall ever
applying a patch to Office XP, so I don't know what could
have updated this file... Also, I tried repairing the
installation, and then I tried to install the service
pack, and no go. Still the same error message.

Any help would be appreciated
